Director, Supply Chain
Location: Oakville, ON (Hybrid)

The Company
Founded in 2012, Polar Performance Materials (Polar) has become a leader in the specialty materials industry through the production of high-purity alumina (HPA), a critical input for semiconductors, LEDs, and advanced ceramics. Polar is the only North American supplier of 5N HPA, uniquely positioning the company in a rapidly growing market.
Polar is scaling aggressively, having commissioned its first large-scale production facility in 2023 with a second on the horizon. The company’s patented manufacturing process reduces carbon intensity and energy consumption, showing Polar’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The Opportunity
As Polar scales to meet global demand, we are hiring a Director, Supply Chain to build and lead the company’s global supply chain during a pivotal expansion phase.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will shape procurement, vendor management, inventory planning, and ERP-driven operations across North America, Europe, and Asia. This is a rare opportunity to design and lead supply chain strategy from the ground up in a high-growth, engineering-driven business with global reach.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership: Build and scale supply chain processes that support rapid growth and facility expansion.
- Global Procurement: Manage sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationships across multiple geographies.
- Inventory & Operations: Lead forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization to balance efficiency, cost, and scalability.
- Vendor Management: Establish robust vendor policies and compliance frameworks to meet audit and customer requirements.
- ERP Implementation: Embed supply chain processes into Odoo ERP (MRP module) to drive data-backed decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Finance, Operations, and Engineering to align supply chain strategy with cash flow objectives, capital projects, and production schedules.
Success Criteria
At 3 Months
- Stabilize supply chain operations with visibility into materials and long-lead items.
- Launch a reliable supply/demand forecasting process aligned with production and customer commitments.
- Draft vendor management policies to meet upcoming customer audits.
- Develop procurement strategy for Facility Two’s long-lead capital equipment.
- Support ERP go-live with proper inventory and materials flow established.
At 1 Year
- Fully embed Odoo ERP into operations with proactive KPIs and forecasting.
- Vendor management program audit-ready and compliance framework in place.
- Facility One stabilized with reliable supply/demand alignment; Facility Two procurement strategy in place.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team; prepare for seamless transition to a long-term supply chain head.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including 5+ years in leadership.
- Strong track record in global procurement, supplier management, and ERP implementation.
- Experience with high-value or advanced materials (semiconductors, specialty materials, etc.) preferred.
- Proven success in streamlining supply chain processes and scaling operations.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, high-growth environments with international exposure.
- Willingness to travel (~15-20%).
- Authorization to work in Canada without future sponsorship.
