Radiation Therapist
The purpose of a Radiation Therapist is to provide safe, timely and accurate simulation, planning and delivery of radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Radiation Therapists also educate patients about potential treatment‑related toxicities and manage them, responding appropriately to each patient’s needs through coordination of care with other health professionals.
Responsibilities
- Simulation, planning, and delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
- Educate patients on treatment toxicities and their management.
- Coordinate care with oncologists, nurses, and other health professionals.
- Participate in treatment planning, delivery, patient care, immobilization and positioning, imaging, quality assurance, clinical education, clinical applications, and research.
- Teach and train students and peers.
- Practice in accordance with provincial standards and regulations.
- Ensure safe, timely, and accurate delivery of radiation therapy.
