The Northern Health Region is currently seeking a 0.8 full-time equivalent (FTE) Obstetrician/Gynecologist to practice in Thompson, Manitoba. The position combines clinical and operative practice with an on-call component. We aim to be an employer of choice, ensuring Medical Staff maintain a healthy work-life balance. Join a multidisciplinary team committed to improving population health by delivering accessible, quality, and compassionate health services in Northern Manitoba. The Northern Health Region is the largest of Manitoba's five Regional Health Authorities, with a population of 72,000 spread over 396,000 km², resulting in a population density of 0.18 persons per km². Major industries include mining, hydro-electric development, forestry, fishing, trapping, transportation, and tourism.
Qualifications
The candidate:
- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
- Royal College Certification is preferred
- Practice Ready Assessment Specialty (PRA-SP) eligible candidates with provisional registration from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba may be considered (letter of eligibility required with application)
Remuneration is generous, with guaranteed income through alternative funding as per the Doctor's Manitoba Collective Agreement.
Practice Location
This position is based at Thompson General Hospital and the Northern Consultation Clinic in Thompson, Manitoba. Known as the “Hub of the North,” Thompson is 740 km north of Winnipeg and serves as the regional trade and service centre of Northern Manitoba. With approximately 15,000 residents, Thompson offers urban amenities and access to lakes and Boreal Forest.
