Testing and service technician

Job Description

Nova Staffing is seeking an experienced Testing & Service Technician in the HVAC industry, for a client close to the Hamilton area. See below for further details:
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or other specifications
Measure and lay out reference points for installation
Use hand and power tools to assemble, install, and repair units
Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices
Perform testing of HVAC systems
Routine maintenance or service, including system maintenance, recharge, checking and testing regulators, calibrating system
Conduct troubleshooting and repairs for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heat pump, electrical, and control systems
Promote teamwork and good company morale; mentor and knowledge share with teammates; conduct yourself with the highest ethical standards
Qualifications:
Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Post-secondary education in HVAC Technician or related field preferred
G2 gas license is required
3 years' experience in HVAC testing, repair and/or servicing; working with electrical components required
Experience with commercial air handling units and working in a manufacturing setting an asset
Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
Ability to lift heavy parts (50 lbs.) and sheet metal on a frequent basis; ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to crouch, climb, reach, twist, and bend
Ability to work in a team or group environment and independently with minimal instruction
Ability to work under pressure and short deadlines
Strong English written and verbal communication skills
Strong customer service skills, professionalism, and interpersonal skills to work with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds
Shift: Day shift
Payrate: $30-36/hr (dependent on work experience)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour
