Position Summary
Metergy is currently undergoing a significant software development effort seeking to modernize its existing, legacy business systems into a modern, cloud-native solution. This effort touches every aspect of our business from autonomous management of meter points & data collection to customer onboarding, management, and billing.
We are seeking a candidate with a blend of technical expertise and effective communication skills to help lead the design of our modernized business systems. They will collaborate with various business units across the organization to document & understand current processes, data, and boundary conditions and then work with the solution architects to design & implement new solutions.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days of the week collaborating with our team in the Warden (Markham, ON) office. 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
- Review Existing Processes:
- Evaluate & document existing software & business processes to enable new development.
- Collaborate with employees and department heads to understand process requirements.
- Design and Build New Systems:
- Create plans to address and fix shortcomings or errors identified in current systems.
- Draft requirements and updates for new systems based on the improvements needed.
- Prepare analysis reports that outline the cost-benefit of proposed system upgrades.
- Assess the impact of changes on efficiency and performance.
- Implementation and Testing:
- Assist the development team in planning the implementation & testing of new solutions.
- Test and troubleshoot recently implemented plans to ensure efficient operation.
- User Training and Documentation:
- Instruct other employees on how to use the new systems through training programs and documents.
- Create technical documentation, including user manuals and system specifications.
- Project Management:
- Work with the existing PMO group to ensure projects are tracked following existing development SOPs.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders during system development and integration.
Qualifications
- Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Information Technology , or a related field is desired.
- Comparable experience within the IT and Software Development industries is considered sufficient.
- Technical Skills & Experience :
- Experience with the entire Software Development Lifecycle .
- Experience with Microsoft business applications such as PowerBI, PowerApps, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of fundamental application components such as databases, REST APIs, etc.
- Experience with data modeling & entity relationship design
- Experience with diagram creation tools such as draw.io , Visio , etc.
- Experi ence with Azure as a cloud service provider.
- Analytical Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify system issues and propose effective solutions.
- Ability to analyze data, evaluate processes, and make informed decisions.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with stakeholders, developers, and end-users.
- Ability to translate technical jargon into understandable terms for non-technical colleagues.
- Business Acumen:
- Understanding of the organization’s goals, processes, and industry.
- Ability to align system improvements with business objectives.
- Project Management:
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile , Scrum ).
- Experience working with Azure DevOps for managing & tracking development an asset.
- Experience in managing timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience with proven ability to understand technical system and the SDLC
- Similar Experience to: Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Consultant
