What will you do?
- Coordinate all APQP activities with assistance from existing subject matter specialists
- Maintain excellent customer relations at the corporate and plant levels throughout the launch
- Execute customer engineering changes, reworks, and root cause investigations
- Manage the supplier base for all purchased components
- Select special characteristics
- Manage customer portals (SQE)
- Clearly and consistently communicate customer expectations to the organization
- Assist in the development of control documents, implementation of lessons learned, and SOR
- Lead supplier PPAPs, quality, and chargebacks, and facilitate supplier development
- Lead/coordinate cross-functional APQP teams on product launches and apply lessons learned to continuously improve the APQP process
- Provide written technical responses to customers on launch quality issues
- Liaison with customers during visits, builds, runs at rate, PPAP activities, process/ system audits, and APQP/ PDT meetings
- Perform quality engineering activities for internal issues as needed (e.g., problem-solving) and liaise with customers on quality issues
- Travel to customer locations to orchestrate sorts and confirm issues and conduct investigations as needed
Job Requirements
What you will bring:
- Minimum of three years in a community college program with a technology diploma or an engineering degree; formal Quality Accreditation (ASQC/AIAG) is a plus
- Certification as a CQE (Quality Engineer)
- Minimum of five years of experience in quality with at least two years in a quality engineer role
- Demonstrated ability to lead APQP processes in an automotive assembly environment; knowledge of AIAG standards (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA)
- Experience interacting with automotive assembly plants is an asset
- Lead Auditor accreditation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to participate in internal and external training
- Strong organizational skills with excellent verbal and written communication
- Leadership abilities to run effective meetings; problem-solving and root-cause analysis capabilities
- Sound technical background with experience evaluating failure modes in both manual and automation contexts
- Willingness to travel as required (U.S./Mexico & Canada) to support customer needs
- Personal attributes: leadership, integrity, punctuality, work ethic, ability to work with little supervision
