Job Description
Senior Data Center Infrastructure Engineer
(Physical infrastructure, networking, power, cooling, and video transport)
Responsibilities
- Act as senior escalation point for data center infrastructure incidents, physical network failures, and complex on-site/colocation issues.
- Own the design, deployment, and operation of data center physical infrastructure including networking, server platforms, power, and cooling.
- Architecture and design of data center layouts, rack elevations, circuit diversity, and hardware platforms. Create and maintain Lucidchart diagrams, rack layouts, power maps, cabling plans, and low-level design documentation.
- Design, deploy, and operate data center networking including spine/leaf fabrics, OOB management, WAN/DCI connectivity, and multicast domains.
- Configuration and administration of switches, routers, OOB systems, and Linux-based bare-metal platforms.
- Build, assemble, install, cable, and commission servers and network equipment in colocation and private data center environments.
- Own server hardware lifecycle: platform design, component selection, firmware strategy, imaging workflows, burn-in, and field diagnostics.
- Read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, power distribution layouts, and breaker panels. Work with UPS systems, PDUs, and colocation electrical teams to validate redundancy and loading.
- Maintain operational awareness of HVAC systems, airflow design, rack density, and environmental monitoring. Understand and evaluate cooling and power failure modes.
- Work directly with remote hands, colocation providers, and hardware vendors to execute deployments, audits, and incident response.
- Install and maintain Linux on bare-metal platforms. Deploy and recover network operating systems and server firmware.
- Troubleshoot L1–L4 faults including optics, cabling, MTU, packet loss, multicast instability, and hardware performance issues.
- Design, deploy, and troubleshoot multicast video transport (IGMP, PIM, boundary control, monitoring, and fault isolation).
- Utilize network and infrastructure monitoring systems to detect and remediate bottlenecks and failures.
- Provide structured technical breakdowns of incidents and risks to operations and leadership teams.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of data center networking (routing, switching, multicast) with strong real-world operational experience.
- CCNP or equivalent practical experience required; CCIE or advanced vendor certifications are a strong asset.
- In-depth experience designing and operating data center networks including BGP, OSPF, VLAN/EVPN, PIM, and large-scale L2/L3 environments.
- Strong hands-on background with enterprise switching platforms (Cisco Nexus/Catalyst, Arista, Juniper, or equivalent).
- Proven experience assembling, deploying, and troubleshooting enterprise server platforms.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems including A/B feeds, UPS architecture, PDUs, load planning, and breaker layouts.
- Working knowledge of HVAC principles, containment strategies, and environmental monitoring.
- Experience working with multiple colocation providers and managing remote facilities.
- Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu/CentOS), including bare-metal deployment and low-level troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting multicast video traffic in production environments.
- Ability to work independently in critical situations and coordinate multi-party technical response.
- Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours when required for maintenance activities and infrastructure incidents.
Nice to Have
- Experience with video transport systems and standards (MPEG-TS, ST 2110, HLS, SRT).
- Familiarity with PTP, precision timing, or broadcast-grade IP video environments.
- Experience with GPU-based or ASIC-based video processing platforms.
- Ability to analyze optical performance (DOM, attenuation, light budgets).
- Experience using AI automation to support bare-metal provisioning and inventory systems.
Please be advised
In-person or live technical assessment covering data center networking fundamentals, multicast, and physical infrastructure concepts may be conducted prior to interview progression.
