We are looking for a Residential Mortgage Underwriter who will manage the full credit adjudication process for mortgage applications, including decisioning based on lending criteria, review and fulfillment of mortgage conditions, exception management, pricing determinations and documentation review, while meeting performance targets and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Residential Lending results, ensuring growth and profitability targets are met.
• Maintain knowledge of Community Trust residential mortgage underwriting policies, procedures, and products.
• Negotiate, structure, and evaluate mortgage applications according to internal policies.
• Manage portfolio risk by making consistent, objective credit decisions within authorized limits; escalate with rationale when appropriate.
• Issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions.
• Review and decide mortgage documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy per credit policies, procedures, and AML requirements.
• Instruct files to FCT and coordinate with Residential Funding to ensure timely closings.
• Collaborate with Partner Experience to deliver top-tier partner service.
• Work with Credit Quality Assurance and Funding teams to meet targets.
• Stay up to date on competition, industry trends and market conditions.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with company standards; identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Follow AML procedures, including Know Your Client rules; identify and escalate any AML/ATF risks promptly; take corrective actions as needed.
• Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls per company policies.
• Manage tasks and cases to meet predetermined Service Level Agreements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in residential origination, preferably in the alternative lending space
• Post-secondary education preferred
• Working knowledge of Google Workspace applications
