The Clinic Agency is a specialized staffing firm placing experienced professionals in short-term and long-term roles supporting Research Ethics Boards (REBs) and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) across Canada and the U.S. We work with academic institutions, hospitals, private clinics, and CROs to ensure research integrity and regulatory compliance in human subjects research.
Position Overview:
We are seeking detail-oriented and experienced compliance officers to support the oversight responsibilities of REBs. You will serve as the primary resource to the REB and institution, ensuring that researchers are conducting their studies in adherence with REB-approved protocols and in accordance with applicable ethical guidelines, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine which REB-approved research may need audit, monitoring, or a site visit
- Assess all aspects of REB-approved research and processes by which approvals were granted
- Work closely with the REB Chair, Director of Research Ethics
- Conduct audits, monitoring or site visits as expected by the institution
- Write reports for the REB Chair and Director
- Conduct other Quality Assurance activities as required
- Communicate with researchers in a timely and professional manner
- Provide expert advice on research ethics matters and escalate issues when needed
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and institutional research ethics requirements
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience supporting a REB/IRB in any capacity and/or 2+ years as an REB manager or compliance officer
- Knowledge of research ethics regulations (e.g., TCPS, 45 CFR 46, ICH-GCP)
- Proficiency with ethics submission and review platforms, Google ecosystem, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred:
- Familiarity with both Canadian and U.S. regulatory environments
- TCPS, CITI Program, or similar research ethics training
- Experience working remotely with cross-functional teams
