Job Description
Island Health is seeking a full-time or part-time Psychiatrist to primarily work in an outpatient setting, caring for an adult population with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and substance use diagnoses.
The candidate must be comfortable working with persistently mentally ill, personality disordered, and co-morbid populations, within a community and recovery-focused program framework. Responsibilities include providing services at the MHSU outpatient clinic and supporting ACT/ACSS services in the community. Caseload is shared with the current psychiatrist, with no on-call responsibilities after hours, weekends, or holidays. Flexibility within a growing clinical environment and a collaborative, consultative approach are essential.
Collaboration within a regional care system includes coordination with the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Department of Psychiatry. Membership in the Central Island Division offers opportunities to attend Nanaimo Department of Psychiatry meetings and connect with colleagues in Nanaimo and Parksville.

Terms and Compensation
Remuneration is on a mixed fee-for-service and sessional billing system.
