Job Summary:

The Manufacturing supervisor is responsible for handling day to day work activities on the shop floor , ensuring the daily manufacturing schedule is delivered smoothly. The job holder monitors the performance and productivity of manufacturing staff ensuring adherance to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect, assuring the quality and quantity of product produced. These responsibilities also include taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Prioritize safety awareness and ensure daily safety-focused practices are implemented. Uphold safety standards across all Manufacturing department activities. Strive to minimize the number of safety incidents.
  • Oversee, direct, and coordinate Manufacturing team activities to maintain quality, maximize productivity, and minimize costs. Implement daily Encapsulation, Tableting, Coating, and Blending/dispensing schedule, ensuring work is completed on time.
  • Support the goal of increased production, aiming to increase units produced per hour, ensure a high percentage of products meet quality standards, and optimize cost per unit produced.
  • Directly supervise 15-30 employees.
  • Handle HR responsibilities including reviewing attendance records, conducting annual performance reviews and interviews, for operators. Provide positive reinforcement, constructive feedback as appropriate.
  • Foster teamwork, build relationships, promote a positive work culture, and show compassion and care for employees’ wellbeing. Address and resolve conflicts in a professional and timely manner to maintain a positive working environment.
  • Effectively convey information to team members and other departments. Facilitate open and clear communication channels within the organization. Act as a liaison between the manufacturing department and other internal departments as well as external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and support staff training encouraging ongoing learning and job mastery, minimize the time taken for new employees to reach full productivity.
  • Identify and resolve issues using continuous improvement methodologies and root cause analysis. Strive for constant improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure that procedures in Manufacturing are being adhered to and that all documentation is being filled out properly. Ensure proper paper flow in the department, check in process check sheets to verify compliance to quality and confirm output quantities for each run.
  • Meet with other shift Supervisors and review work scheduled for that shift.
  • Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Adhere and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


Technical

  • Completion of High School
  • Mechanical mindset and or experience working in a manufacturing or light industrial setting.
  • Min 2 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain experience is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of cGMP and quality systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Production/Planning scheduling is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
