Locum Coverage : July – December 31, 2025

Join our collegial group of Obstetricians / Gynecologists as a locum with two options available depending on your interest and availability. Work available from July – December 2025 , with possibility of an extension.

Located in Belleville, Ontario, approximately 2.5 hours east of Toronto in the beautiful Bay of Quinte Region - we are nestled on the shores of the Bay of Quinte adjacent to picturesque Prince Edward County.

Option A - Parental Leave Full-time Practice Coverage

The community office practice is close to Belleville General Hospital and includes a full-time receptionist.

Option B - Ad hoc coverage which could be designed to include only call or only office coverage if desired, or shorter-term holiday coverage for other practices

Details for Both Options :

  • average 4 x 24-hour call shifts per month
  • 2 Gyn ORs per month
  • approximately 2 assisting days as well
  • a day of minor surgery / colposcopy per month
  • shared office space between 4 OBGYNs with a shared admin / patient list with one other OBGYN
  • FFS with call stipend
  • EMR at hospital : Cerner
  • EMR at office : Accuro

Quinte Health’s 7.0 FTE Obstetricians Gynecologists provide specialized consultative, urgent, and emergency care to women across the care continuum. The locum will provide coverage within this rotation for both obstetrical and gynaecological care, including consults and referrals for in-patients and out-patient care from the Emergency Departments, family physicians, other specialty services, and midwives.

Births at Quinte Health each year number between 1,450 and 1,500. Our Maternal Child unit at Belleville General Hospital has a 17-bed obstetrical unit, NICU so would say 8-bed Level 2A NICU for high-risk newborns (accepting neonates 34 weeks and up currently), two operating rooms for Cesarean sections, and a shared obstetrical assessment – triage clinic. The unit was redeveloped in 2000.

Applicants must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be eligible for a full independent medical license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
