Our client, an Ottawa-based, multi-service law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join their diverse team.


About you

To be considered, you should have:


  • 7+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant/Law Clerk
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Adobe DC Pro and PCLaw
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail with the flexibility to accommodate work demands
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and multitask
  • Be comfortable with working independently and collaboratively within a team environment with a strong work ethic
  • Demonstrate good judgment and utmost professionalism at all times, particularly when working under pressure
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral


About the role

If hired, you will:

  • Draft/prepare and complete all necessary litigation documentation such as claims, defences, motion records, pleadings, notices, affidavits, etc. in Superior Court and Small Claims Court, Court of Appeal
  • Scheduling mediations, examinations, motions, pre-trials and trial dates, amongst other scheduling tasks
  • Familiarity with the Online Submissions Portal and Caselines
  • Vigilent of processes and deadlines for serving and filing court documents
  • Ensuring all filing is organized and up to date, both physical and electronic
  • Handle administrative details concerning calendar and task management, client meetings, accounting, closing files and docketing
  • Other administrative duties as required
