Role Description


This is a full-time hybrid role based in Saskatoon, SK, with the flexibility for some remote work. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the design, testing, and implementation of mechanical systems and components, utilizing technical skills and knowledge to contribute to project success. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level professional to gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers and engineers in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components.
  • Create detailed drawings, schematics, and technical documentation using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) based on design specifications and project requirements.
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations and simulations to support design decisions and verify system performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and project documentation, documenting design changes, test results, and project milestones.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Adhere to company standards, quality procedures, and safety guidelines in all aspects of work activities.


Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Technology, or related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical systems and technologies.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prior internship, co-op, or relevant work experience in mechanical engineering or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in mechanical design, testing, and implementation.

Key Knowledge & Experience

No industry experience is required for this position. Experience working in the consulting field with practice in design, drafting, and 3D CAD would be an asset. Heavy industrial exposure would also be considered an asset, especially in mining and more specifically, potash mining.



Specialized experience in the following software would also be considered an asset: AutoCAD (2D and 3D), Inventor, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Access. Other programming expertise would be very beneficial.



Salary Range

$61,000 – $71,000
