Daily Hours Worked: Various hour shifts (30 to 40 hours per week)

Position Type: Fee for service

Wage Rate: Compensation is fee-for-service as per the Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living negotiated rates. Average Salary CDN$252,253 to 524,874 (to be negotiated). Minimum Salary will be guaranteed for 1 year.

Position Summary

As the second largest city in Manitoba, with a population of 55,000 and growing, Brandon is the main hub and referral site for southwestern Manitoba, with a catchment area of approximately 200,000 people. Brandon Regional Health Centre is a fully accredited multi-specialty facility with 300+ bed capacity and are currently undergoing a $110 million-dollar expansion of our inpatient care facilities, expected to be completed by 2026.

Our facility operates 3 endoscopy rooms, with a fleet of 45 scopes and offers a high level of service to the Region. Our on-site diagnostic services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. There is a wide range of specialist services available onsite including pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, anesthesia, general surgery, radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, orthopedic surgery, urology, and internal medicine.

Brandon Regional Health Centre is a satellite campus for the University of Manitoba and the Rady Faculty of Medicine, and offers the opportunity to contribute to the teaching/mentoring of medical learners.

The ideal candidate should have excellent skills in interventional gastroenterology and the ability to perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders. The ideal candidate must be able to perform interventional endoscopies including, but not limited to Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and other advanced therapeutic procedures. Additional training and fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy are preferred. Management of inflammatory bowel disease is desired. Qualified PRA candidates are encouraged to apply, provided they meet eligibility requirements.

Remuneration/Hours

  • Remuneration is derived from fee-for-service billing as per the current Manitoba physicians’ manual negotiated in the Master Agreement between the Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living and Doctors Manitoba, and will be dependent on the volume of services provided.

Required qualifications

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in endoscopy. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for full license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.
  • Candidates with advanced endoscopy training are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
  • Prescribe post-operation medication and treatment
  • Treat diseases, injuries, and deformities
  • Act as consultants to other physicians
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures
  • Supervision: 1 to 2 people

Credentials

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree with Specialist Certification in Gastroenterology. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Must be a member of CMPA or provide proof of equivalent malpractice insurance.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Ability to respect confidentiality in all formats.
  • Good work and attendance record.

Additional Information
