Job Description

About Odd Bunch

Odd Bunch is on a mission to make fresh produce more affordable and accessible across Canada. We are a fast‑growing, sustainable subscription‑based produce service, helping Canadians save thousands of dollars on their grocery bills, supporting local farmers, fighting food waste, donating to families suffering from food insecurity, and building a better planet in the process. We currently operate in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta, with most of our team located in Toronto, London, and Vancouver.

About The Role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of Odd Bunch's financial operations and help build the systems, processes, and controls needed to support our next phase of growth. This role reports directly to the CEO. It is a hands‑on role suited for a sharp, motivated finance professional who wants exposure to the full business, not just month‑end close. You will oversee day‑to‑day accounting while also improving financial transparency, strengthening internal controls, and implementing scalable systems that support decision‑making at the leadership level. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, is detail‑oriented yet commercially minded, and is excited to help build best‑in‑class financial foundations as the company continues to scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial statements across all operating entities

  • Manage general ledger integrity, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis

  • Develop and improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls to support scale

  • Work closely with operations, logistics, and procurement teams to understand and analyze unit economics

  • Track and report on key cost drivers including freight, labor, warehousing, and inventory

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

  • Build and maintain financial models and reporting to support strategic decision‑making

  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors

  • Support year‑end audit, compliance, and tax filings

  • Maintain clean documentation and financial records to ensure audit‑ready reporting

Desired Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting, finance, or audit (industry or public practice)

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements

  • Experience managing month‑end close and reconciliations

  • Comfort working with high‑volume transactional data

  • Systems‑oriented mindset with interest in improving processes and tools

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand the broader business context

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and take ownership

  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, growing environment

  • Experience within ecommerce, subscription‑based businesses, logistics, or operations‑heavy companies is a strong plus

  • Impact‑driven individuals who want to make a positive difference in society

Nice To Have's

  • Experience in startup or high‑growth environments

  • Exposure to inventory accounting and cost accounting

  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar

  • Experience working cross‑functionally with operations and leadership teams

  • Comfort building financial models and operational dashboards

  • Experience supporting audits, lenders, or investor‑facing reporting

Benefits

  • Health plan available after 6 months

  • Remote work with a flexible schedule

  • Free grocery plan

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Strong potential for growth within the company

  • Compensation based on experience and qualifications

  • Annual bonus potential

Join us in our mission to transform the grocery industry and make a lasting impact on eliminating food waste and improving food affordability in Canada. If you are excited about this opportunity and meet the qualifications listed above, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you would be a great fit for Odd Bunch. We look forward to hearing from you!
