Job Summary
Working on the latest Cloud technologies introduced by the CN – Google partnership.

Using Infrastructure as codes, DevSecOps and the modern CN Digital platforms. The role of Specialist Solution Design is responsible for producing technology solutions aligned with business objectives within a specific field of expertise of the CN digital platforms.

This is achieved through three main functions;
Consultation – participating to workshops with various stakeholders, understanding user & business requirements, researching data, and technological capabilities;
Ownership – translating information from consultation sessions into a Technology Blueprint or software design;
For infrastructure and technology expertise, planning – in project involving integration with CN digital platforms, work with the Project Manager in creating work breakdown structures, delivery timeline and effort estimates.
Main Responsibilities
Technology Blueprint / Software Design
Support the Enterprise & Solution Architect during their requirements phase as well as providing expertise on current capabilities to build the high level architecture.
Translate a portion of the high-level solution architecture document into existing capabilities available within the domain(s) of expertise.
If needed, define new capabilities required by the project as identified by architecture; ensure maximum automation in the design for deployment.
Instruct and host workshops to determine sizing.
Lead medium complexity blueprint or participate in high complexity blueprint.
Responsible for ensuring the blueprint, which covers domain(s) of expertise, complies with CN Information Security.
Project Delivery Planning
Estimate efforts of work breakdown structure elements associated with domain(s) of expertise.
Ensure alignment of the schedule with the functional team in line with domain(s) of expertise.
Define testing strategy and align with the functional team in with domain(s) of expertise.
Identify any special requirements for transition-to-core.
Technology Roadmap
Research market for innovation and emerging technologies aligned with business strategy and direction.
Maintain catalog of existing capabilities within domain(s) of expertise and provide advisory services to various technology owners.
Research ways to improve and automate deployment of existing and new capabilities.
Provide leadership in the roadmap within the domain(s) of expertise; making recommendations to ensure components relevant; otherwise trigger introduction of new technology as well as containment or retirement.
Requirements
Education/Certification/Designation
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree & experience.
Skills/Knowledge
Strong knowledge in domain(s) of expertise.
Familiar with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
Ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
Broad knowledge of software development, telecom, infrastructure, or Industrial IoT technologies.
Ability to estimate efforts and costs required for delivery.
Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and meet deliverable dates.
Very good technical documentation skills.
Very good communication and presentation skills.
Proactive, able to plan, address or mitigate technical risk.
Proven experience delivering technology projects involving multiple parties.
Knowledge of IT security principles.
Ability to clarify requirements and ensure solution meets business needs.
Strong systems engineering or development knowledge.
Strong sense or prioritization for meeting deadlines.
Subject matter expert in at least one domain (specialty).
Experience
Minimum 10 years experience in design and administration of compute infrastructure including virtual technologies.
Minimum 5 of experience in the field of cloud computing; hands-on experience with Infrastructure as code technology such as Terraform and Ansible
Minimum 3 years experience with containerization platform, such as Kubernetes.
DevSecOps experience with CI/CD technology such as Azure DevOps, Git, …
Experience with Google Cloud Products deployment such as GCE, Anthos, GKE, Cloud Storage, Logging, tracing, and monitoring
FinOps and Cloud cost control experience
Troubleshooting and analytical skills
GCP certification is an asset
Working Conditions
Occasional business travel (in Canada and US) in accordance with CN policy
