Job Summary

The role of Cloud & DevOps engineering Lead is responsible for the successful deployment of advanced infrastructure, telecom, Industrial IoT, software development, application, technology solutions, systems, and services.

The lead ensures that all business requirements are met by team members and projects, and contributes to the global evolution of CN’s I&T. The lead is a key player in the team, ensuring the technology delivered is secure, reliable, available, resilient, performant, and aligned with safety standards per business requirements.

As a Cloud & DevOps engineer for Cloud solutions and Infrastructure as Code, you will have a key role on all technical aspects within IT projects. Working in collaboration with solution architects, you will participate in the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions (SaaS & IaaS/PaaS) with CN IT infrastructure, as well as taking leadership in developing the Infrastructure-As-Code roadmap.

CN has partnered with Google on a cloud transformation journey which starts with the migration of current workloads from its data centers to the cloud.

In parallel a few modernization programs have been launched with a dependency on the Google Cloud Platform foundation.



The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of cloud providers, including Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. They will also have a strong background in IaC and DevSecOps practices such as CI/CD and automation.

Main Responsibilities


Expert Solution Designer – Infrastructure as Code

· Design and implement foundational infrastructure as code using primarily Terraform software.


· Maintain and enhance existing foundational codebases and pipelines.

· Develop and document infrastructure as code standards and processes.


· Develop self-service infrastructure provisioning, delivery pipelines that can be reused company wide.

· Contribute to improving cloud platforms for increased delivery speed and product flexibility.


· Collaborate with internal cloud engineering teams and respective stakeholders to understand user requirements and implement technical solutions.

· Guide various SMEs through technical design propositions and specifications and address any potential design or support issues.


· Act as a senior SME, coaching & training others on the use of IaC, terraform, git, pipelines, cloud automation and design patterns.

· Guide users and help address potential design or code support issues.


· Present and explain designs/solutions to different stakeholder groups.

· Manage and contribute to the roadmap and backlog based on CN strategy & I&T technology needs.


· Work in collaboration with project managers to define work breakdown structure, estimate project effort and project schedules.



· Apply, and ensure compliance with, all appropriate CN I&T standards (e.g.

Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, SOX, Telecom, Software Engineering, etc.)



Requirements

Education/Certification/Designation


· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related field of study, or equivalent work experience

Skills/Knowledge


· Ability to precisely estimate efforts of the tasks assigned.

· Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and meet deliverables dates.


· Very good technical documentation skills.

· Very good communication, influencing and presentation skills.


· Leadership skills and ability to influence and guide others on integration and technical matters.

· Proven experience delivering technology projects involving multiple parties.


· Proven experience with IP protocols and technologies.

· Knowledge of IT security principles.


· Ability to clarify requirements and ensure solution meets business needs.

· Strong systems engineering knowledge.


· Ability to estimate efforts and costs required for delivery.

· Strong sense or prioritization for meeting deadlines.


Technical Skills/Knowledge

· Proficient in cloud-based DevSecOps practices.


· Significant experience writing Hashicorp Terraform configurations and modules.

· Experience in DevOps and GitOps models with infra-as-code, config-as-code, policy-as-code, etc.


· Experience in programming and infra-automation tools – Terraform, Ansible, python, git, etc.


· Proficient in OS administration basics and comfortable on the command line, i.e Linux.


· Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and other major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).

· Significant experience with git hosting providers (Azure DevOps, Github).


· Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud security.

· Understanding of landing zones, cloud-native security, monitoring and logging tools, and Well-Architected Framework principals.


· Experience in enterprise-scale environments, building highly available solutions.

· Strong knowledge of agile development practices


· Strong leadership to bring the team to work and interact with other teams.

· Process driven (improve existing team process and build new ones when required).


· Good business relationship.

· Excellent French and English (spoken and Written)



Experience

· 10+ years of solid general knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking.


· 3+ years of solid general knowledge of infra as code and cloud automation practices.

· 3-5 years experience in design and implementation of Cloud based solutions and practices.


· Continuous learning to keep up to date with latest technology innovations and roadmaps related to IaC, pipelines & cloud infrastructure in general.
