Excavator Operator – Wood Processing Plant
About the Role
Terra Firma is seeking a dependable and skilled Excavator Operator to support daily operations at a wood-processing plant. The operator will work directly beside a senior operator, unloading walking-floor trailers of crushed wood and loading the grinder to process material into mulch. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in equipment care, works safely, and keeps production moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily pre-operational inspections on the excavator.
- Operate machines safely and efficiently in a busy wood-processing environment.
- Unload walking-floor trailers filled with crushed wood.
- Load a grinder with material to produce mulch for processing.
- Clean out machine filters throughout the day.
- Grease the excavator at the end of each shift.
- Work beside the senior operator and follow direction from supervisors.
- Clock in and out through company time-tracking software.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work Monday to Friday, with Saturdays as required.
Qualifications
- Experience operating excavators or similar heavy equipment (required).
- Understanding of equipment maintenance, safety, and daily inspections.
- Comfortable working around grinders, trailers, and active machinery.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
