The Thales Ottawa office has been a major supplier and long-term trusted partner to DND, enabling the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard to achieve mission success.Position SummaryThis role is hybrid – mix of customer onsite, Thales site, and home (Ottawa region).In support of a recently awarded contract this, the Services and Applications Architect will be responsible for implementing software applications and information services, frameworks and strategies to meet DSEF software development and application requirements; and analyzing, designing and implementing DSEF services and application architectures.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Services and Applications Architect, you will be responsible for the following:Designing, developing and assessing technical options for DSEF software development and application problems.Analyzing and evaluating alternative technology solutions to meet DSEF software development and application problems.Ensuring the integration of all aspects of DSEF software solutions.Recommending options for resolving DSEF software design issues.Analyzing functional requirements to identify information, procedures and decision flows for DSEF applications.Evaluating existing procedures and methods, identify and document database content, structure, and application sub-systems, and developing data dictionary.Defining and documenting interfaces of manual-to-automated operations within application subsystems, to external systems and between new and existing systems.Identifying and documenting system specific standards relating to programming, documentation and testing, covering program libraries, data dictionaries, and naming conventions.Providing end-user support.Performing any other related work as required.Key RequirementsMinimum 10 years of demonstrated experience with experience with at least one of the following:Command and control communication and information systems within a distributed platform environment.Command and control communication and information systems within a client/server environment.Military information systems.Joint or Allied information systems Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements.System management solutions (applications, tools and processes) for communication & information systems.Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience as a System Architect on Military Command and Control Communication and Information systems.Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience in the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Information Technology / Information management or engineering.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff, as well as communicating system-engineering direction for projects or systems.Providing advice, guidance and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision-making of senior management.Leading multidisciplinary teams in the development of IT tactical systems, frameworks or strategies.Performing strategic, operational or tactical planning for projects or systems to meet corporate strategy.Proven problem solving and analytic skills with a track record of successful outcomesEducation:STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) Master’s degree in network, software, computer, systems, electrical, or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR.Compliance RegulationsAll applicants must be able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program and ITAR.Thales is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace and welcomes applicants from the four designated groups (women, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and aboriginals) to apply for employment.
