<p>The <b>Director of Support Services - Long Term Care</b>, reports to the Administrator of Long-Term Care West. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all non-clinical supportive services within the manors including Environmental Services; Nutrition Services; Facilities Management & Maintenance Services; Security Services and Security System Administration; Capital Equipment Planning & Major Capital Equipment Procurement.; and Primary Care Health Centers. The incumbent will be the on-site supportive contact for occupational health & safety, information technology, supply chain management and other corporate support services provided by Health PEI. The incumbent also plays a key role in carrying out a variety of special projects within the manor. The Director of Support Services is expected to participate in an on-call rotation and may fulfill the role of acting Administrator from time to time.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><b>Duties will include:</b></p><ul><li>Participates with the Administrator and other Directors in leading the development and coordination of strategic planning as well as in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health care programs provided by Summerset, Wedgewood, Maplewood, Margaret Stewart Ellis and Stewart Memorial LTC Homes ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.</li><li>Provide guidance, supervision, mentoring, direction and decision-making support to managers responsible for services in the Support Services division and as required to other managers within the manor.</li><li>Collaborates with other health care agencies and Health PEI in the design, implementation and evaluation of health services,</li><li>Ensures the effective and efficient operation and delivery of services.</li><li>Performs personnel management functions, selects and assigns staff; interprets regulations and procedures; delegates responsibility to supervisory personnel; assesses staff educational needs; evaluates performance of personnel; and takes disciplinary action as required.</li><li>Promote a culture of staff and public safety to minimize the risk of injury or illness.</li><li>Applies the principles and activities of the accreditation process; pursues accreditation standards of service delivery. Ensures follow up with recommendations and required reports as a result of the accreditation process.</li><li>Develop and enhance communication among staff, patients, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, volunteers, institutional partners and the community at large.</li><li>Maintain effective liaisons with other health, government and or community agencies and seek opportunities for enhanced partnerships.</li><li>Acts as liaison to IT shared services and leads facility component of IT projects.</li><li>Leads the initiation of long-term capital asset replacement program in partnership with HPEI.</li><li>Leads the facility component of all capital projects for LTC west.</li><li>Acts in a key leadership capacity during the Manors’ emergency situations.</li><li>Responsible for the provision of a secure physical environment for all staff and patients through the administration of the computerized security system including controlled access and closed-circuit television monitoring.</li><li>Act as the Systems Administrator for the computerized security system; and other duties as required.</li></ul><p><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Must have a university degree in a related field, supplement by management and leadership training. </li><li>Preference will be given for a Master’s level degree in an administrative field</li><li>Must have extensive management and/or administrative experience in a health setting including responsibility for financial, human resource, and project management.</li><li>Must have experience working in an institutional setting.</li><li>Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;</li><li>Excellent written/verbal communication skills, proven interpersonal, organization and facilitation skills and the ability to plan and think strategically.</li><li>Strong team building skills and an ability to work collaboratively and to build and maintain effective partnerships are critical.</li><li>Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.</li><li>The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal record check prior to beginning employment.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><b>Please Note: Please ensure the application clearly demonstrates how you meet the noted qualifications as applicants will be screened based on the information provided.
