About the Opportunity
On behalf of one of the top banks in Canada, we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join them as the Director of Cyber Security Data Governance. This role is responsible for ensuring that data governance practices meet regulatory requirements and industry best standards while driving the successful delivery of regulatory programs across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and execution of data governance initiatives supporting regulatory compliance—covering data classification, data quality, data lifecycle management, and related domains.
Serve as a subject matter expert on data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance, advising stakeholders across the organization.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure accurate reporting and adherence to regulatory expectations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate data-related risks within regulatory program delivery.
Monitor regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on data governance practices, recommending and driving necessary adjustments.
Champion a culture of data stewardship, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in data protection, cybersecurity, information risk management, or related fields, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
Demonstrated success executing governance programs within a complex or global environment (financial services experience strongly preferred).
Strong understanding of data protection frameworks, technologies, and best practices.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic leadership skills.
