POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Customer Service Coordinator will play a key role in upholding the Municipality of Central Elgin’s high standards for customer service provision. The role will support the delivery of corporate customer service by the Municipality and liaise with all departments to ensure timely and sound responses to residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary frontline support to the Municipality in assisting with provision of services such as receiving payments, answering and managing public inquiries for non-emergency information and/or services in-person, via telephone and email, including clerical procedures relating to the corporate customer service function.
- Lead all mailing initiatives for tax and utility billing and related correspondence.
- Maintain confidentiality of operations and resident information.
- Manage office supply procurement for the Municipality.
- Provide support for organizing and executing public relations, special events and meetings as required.
- Support the Deputy Clerk with policy research and background development as required.
- Follows all health and safety practices and procedures. Reports unsafe conditions or work to supervisor.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education (College Diploma or University Degree) with a major in Business Administration, Political Science, Communications, or related program is an asset.
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with difficult and emotionally charged situations while always maintaining a high degree of customer service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- 2-3 years of related experience in a customer service or office environment. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience in municipal or government setting an asset.
- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy skills and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Must have a history of good attendance and reliability.
- Follows all safety rules and maintains a strong safety record.
- Completes work to meet the required quality standards.
- Must be able to read and write and keep accurate records, understand and be able to respond to both verbal and written instructions.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team, able to accept direction and complete tasks with limited supervision.
