Job Description
Our client, a well-established and respected general contractor, is seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent to support the successful delivery of a large-scale commercial construction project in Calgary. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced project team and gain hands-on exposure to all aspects of field construction management.
As the Assistant Superintendent, you will play a key role in supporting the Site Superintendent with day-to-day site coordination, safety enforcement, scheduling, and quality control. This position is well-suited for an ambitious construction professional looking to take the next step in their career toward a full Superintendent role.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Site Superintendent in overseeing and coordinating all on-site construction activities.
- Monitor daily site operations, ensuring adherence to project schedules, drawings, and specifications.
- Support implementation of safety policies and procedures; conduct site inspections and toolbox talks.
- Track and document manpower, deliveries, and subcontractor performance.
- Maintain accurate daily logs and assist with RFIs, change orders, and site reports.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and the project management team.
- Participate in site meetings and contribute to problem-solving to keep the project on track.
- Ensure quality standards are consistently met throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 3-7 years of construction experience, with exposure to commercial or institutional projects preferred.
- Previous experience in a site coordination, foreman, or assistant superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office; experience with construction management software is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work full-time on-site.
